Goodbye to Gourmet Magazine – November 2009 Last Issue

Gourmet MagazineSome shocking news today that Condé Naste's Gourmet November 2009 Issue, will be its last.   Gourmet's sales of ad pages and circulation was slightly less than Condé Naste's Bon Appétite magazine.  Since January 1941, Gourmet has been published and is one of those respected and recognized publications.

I had subscribed to Bon Appétite for years and have only recently started going through my old issues to weed out the recipes and articles I wanted to keep and start tossing the magazines itself.   Over the years Bon Appétite's format and style has changed to appeal to a different target group of foodies, leaving their existing loyal fan base to wonder, so I would've thought they were struggling …but not Gourmet Magazine.

Wow – still shocked.  I always looked forward to the December issue with all the cookie and holiday recipes.   I currently subscribe to Saveur magazine and have been pleased with its content.

I just may have to pick up that last Gourmet magazine issue.

Hi Mary – Apologies for delay in response. I haven’t seen the last issue of Gourmet yet either. I’m going to check a couple places today. It’s too bad they didn’t just finish up the year and end with a December issue.

I have looked in many stores and cannot find the November, and last, issue of Gourmet anywhere. Shouldn’t it be out by now?

Hi, all. This is another sign of how the economy is going to cause great things to go away. Cheap fast food is getting another opportunity to encrouch into people’s lives.
