Bartlett pears were mainly used with an added Comice for this homemade pear preserves. Good texture with small chunks of cooked pear (not the consistency of apple sauce). Very good pear flavor!
Nice texture to this cake and the bits of apple and pecans give it a homey, rustic feel.
The top has an irresistible flaky crust like chocolate brownies have. It’s really almost like an apple cake!
This was a spot on recipe and a now a favorite in my repetoire. You’ll enjoy how the house fills with delicious aromas of sweet pears, apples, and spicy cinnamon starting into the third-hour or so!
Spiced Pumpkin Butter. The pumpkin flavor and spices comes through, it’s like a spreadable pumpkin pie without the crust!
The sage compliments and slightly offsets the sometimes dominate pumpkin flavor, but still keeps a delicious balance in these little cakes.
For the chillier days ahead, here’s a small baking project that’s requires some time in the oven, but relatively little active time on your part – baked apple chips and pear chips.
